The best thing about our Rogue florals is their everlasting beauty. They’re a perfect investment for garden-less homes and apartments, or busy homeowners. Though faux florals and plants don’t require as much maintenance as the real thing, they’ll retain their vibrant colour and shape for years when treated with the proper care.
Here’s our essential guide to taking care of your artificial flowers and plants and helping them stay fresher for longer.
The sun is a deadly laser
Unlike real ones, faux florals and plants do not require sunlight to produce vital nutrients and thrive – in fact, they don’t do well in the sun at all! Unless your plants are specifically treated for UV resistance, artificial flowers (especially real-touch blossoms and water resin) can fade or discolour if left exposed to direct sunlight.- When selecting a space within your home to display your faux floral arrangements, choose a shelf or corner that is both a focal point and out of direct sunlight. You can display them temporarily outdoors for events or entertaining but be sure to return them to shaded storage afterwards.
Be storage savvy
Are you planning a big move and need to pack your artificial plants? Or are you simply switching up your space and need to put them away for some time? If you no longer have the box your Rogue faux florals originally came in, any soft cloth cover bag or padded storage container for larger plants will do.- Cloth drawstring bags or even pillowcases are especially good for storing individual floral and foliage stems or hanging plants. For sculpted arrangements, use separate storage bags and leave enough breathing room to keep their shape intact.
Dust, the true enemy
While faux florals and plants have the advantage of never wilting or attracting disease, they still gather dust like everything else on your shelf and require a gentle dusting every now and then. Depending on the size and material, a soft dusting tool like a microfibre cloth or feather duster will do. These are especially handy for plants with large stems and leaves.- Use a small duster or soft-bristle paintbrush to reach between crevices in a vase or bunched-up petals. For particularly heavy dust, gently blow-dry the flowers or leaves with cool air on a low-speed setting before feather-dusting or wiping them clean.
Rub-a-dub-dub, give your flowers a scrub
Give your faux florals and plants a quick wipe to erase any stains or discolouration. Most fabric, plastic or silk florals and foliage can be wiped clean with a damp cloth; use a damp Q-tip or cotton bud to clean between petals or leaves. For latex or real-touch blossoms that naturally repel water, use a wet wipe that is free of fragrance and alcohol instead.- To clean water resin detailing within a vase, carefully remove the stems before wiping the water surface with a microfibre cloth. Do not use any cleaning liquids or harsh chemicals to clean artificial flowers.
Keep this quick and simple guide to taking care of your artificial flowers handy at all times and let the beauty of your Rogue florals and plants shine through your home for longer!
